Keep Friends with Beautiful: electrical‑box mural designs selected; installation targeted for summer
Summary
A Keep Friends with Beautiful committee reported selected designs for painted electrical boxes near the library and other downtown locations, requested small edits and said one artist withdrew; staff said finalized renderings and a missing submission will be forwarded when available and that installation could be completed by summer.

Keep Friends with Beautiful (KFB) representatives updated the Friendswood Downtown Economic Development Corporation on an electrical‑box artwork project, reporting that a set of renderings has been chosen, committee edits were requested and one artist withdrew due to a family emergency.
The committee asked the vendor to adjust typography and certain imagery — for example to avoid school‑specific mascots in central downtown pieces and to add subdivision names on a library box design where books and neighborhood names were used as motifs. KFB said selected artists will hand‑paint the boxes after vendor preparations: boxes are prepped, painted and then sealed.
"The committee has met. We created a set of edits that we sent to the vendor, for them to make those edits. We have not received them back as of yet," a KFB representative said. Staff said the goal is to have boxes completed by summer and that one submission remains outstanding while a replacement artist is being sought.
No formal board action was required. Staff said they will forward the revised renderings to the board once returned by the vendor and will provide timeline and installation details.
