Green Local Schools board approves construction alternates, boiler replacement, tax rates and special-education policies in unanimous votes

The Green Local Schools Board of Education at its February meeting voted unanimously on a package of construction, fiscal and policy items, including updated guaranteed maximum price (GMP) alternates for the Green Primary renovation, a security glazing change order for the new Green Elementary School, a $174,324.20 boiler replacement at Green Primary to be paid from bond funds, adoption of state model special-education policies, approval of an outside special-education services agreement and continued membership in the Ohio High School Athletic Association.

Board members stated each vote publicly and all motions carried 5 to 0. The items approved included construction alternates that return previously removed elements to the Green Primary project, a security glazing and laminated-film bulletin added to the new elementary school, and the boiler replacement at Green Primary.

The board approved the updated GMP for the Green Primary renovation project with accepted alternates; trustees noted the alternates allow additions such as a bus canopy, upgraded door hardware, LED lighting and Chromebook charging stations.
