Lee County commissioners approved rezoning for the Cypress Manor Residential Plan Development (case DCI2024207) on Feb. 5, 2025, permitting construction of up to 168 multi-family or townhome units on a 28.03-acre property at 18831 State Road 82 in the Lehigh Acres planning area.
Mary Sue Graft, senior planner in the Department of Community Development's zoning section, told commissioners the parcel is currently zoned AG-2 and lies in the urban community and wetlands future land-use categories. The hearing examiner found the proposed RPD met land-development criteria and recommended approval with conditions, Graft said; one member of the public participated in the hearing record.
On the dais, a commissioner moved to approve the rezoning as outlined by the assistant county attorney; another commissioner seconded the motion. The transcript records discussion about a disclosure and a referenced request for March 5 that ‘‘was not clear,’’ and the motion was made following guidance from the assistant county attorney. The commission approved the rezoning with no recorded objections and the motion carried.
The transcript does not include a roll-call tally of individual yes/no votes. Commissioners noted that public comment had been taken as part of the hearing record; the board confirmed there were no objections when the motion was called. Further administrative steps, including satisfaction of hearing-examiner conditions and development permitting, remain before any construction.
