Post-remediation air tests show low mold counts in courthouse lower level

LaSalle County property staff reported that follow-up testing of the courthouse lower-level juror area after recent remediation found no elevated mold levels and no presence of commonly troublesome molds.
A staff member summarizing the results told the committee that the team repeated the initial January tests and found all sampling areas to be ‘‘extremely clean’’ by industrial-hygiene standards. ‘‘The troublesome molds that we typically see when we're assessing a building, ketomium, stachybotrys, aspergillus — none of those were present in any of the samples,’’ the staff member said.
The report covered seven sample locations including rooms in the lower level and an outdoor baseline. The presenter said no sample exceeded about 1,000 spores per cubic meter and most counts were much lower. Committee members asked whether that covered every room in the basement; the presenter confirmed the seven-sample set included representative locations and described the whole basement as ‘‘clean.’’
The staff member also pointed the committee to photographs in the written report that identify the precise sample locations and said the report will be placed on file. The committee did not take any formal action during the discussion; the presentation concluded with no outstanding questions.
The testing summary will remain part of the facility record as the county continues follow-up maintenance and monitoring.
