Tequesta staff says $4.5 million state loan approved for Beach Road Phase 2; other water projects moving toward bids

Village staff told the council Feb. 13 that the state has approved a $4,500,000 Drinking Water State Revolving Loan Fund (DWSRF) loan to fund Beach Road Phase 2 improvements.
“We found out that we were approved for a $4,500,000 drinking water state revolving loan fund for Beach Road Phase 2,” Village Manager Jeremy Allen reported during his standing report. Allen said the village will proceed through the required agreement process and bring any loan documents to council for approval before work proceeds.
Staff also reported forthcoming procurement steps on other utilities projects. The village plans to advertise bids for filter-plant work, including filter-media replacement, and officials said a separate water‑safety project with an estimated value of $6,500,000 will move forward once the Florida Department of Environmental Protection executes a related agreement. Staff submitted paperwork seeking a $145,000 reimbursement tied to a vulnerability assessment and said work on Water Main Nos. 1 and 4 is near substantial completion, with only a small punch list remaining.
Utilities staff introduced new Deputy Director Allison Halsberg and said they will return to council with the formal agreements and bid documents needed to begin procurement and construction. The village’s next steps include finalizing the DWSRF agreement and presenting contract approvals and budget adjustments to the council as required.
