District seeks to terminate Bar Fitness contract, recommends Arrow Fitness for preventative maintenance

District staff told the finance committee that the vendor Bar Fitness, which had a preventative-maintenance contract for high-school and middle-school fitness equipment approved June 3, 2021, has not been responsive to service requests since August and staff are asking the board to terminate the agreement so the district can contract with a new vendor.

Anthony Rapp, director of administration, said the Bar Fitness contract required two service visits per year at the middle and high schools and that the district has not paid Bar Fitness for recent service. The original contract term was five years, Rapp said. Committee members asked whether the contract termination required board action; staff said termination is a contract action and that they will send a termination letter and bring the matter forward.

Staff proposed a one-year replacement agreement with Arrow Fitness for two visits per year. Rapp said the quoted price is $600 per middle school and $8.50 per high school for a district total of $2,900 per year; additional labor is $85 per hour. Staff said they spoke with a neighboring district (Chamonix) that recommended Arrow Fitness.

Board members asked whether equipment has been left unserviced since August; staff confirmed some equipment needed attention and said they want to engage a responsive vendor quickly. The committee reviewed the recommendation; formal action was not taken at this meeting and the termination and replacement contract will be placed on the board agenda.
