Lee County wellness committee reports food drive, biometric results and new programming

On employee wellness programming, the committee reported it transferred wellness funds from an IPBC-held account to a Lee County account to improve payment processing and capture interest. The wellness account balance after consolidation was reported as $86,767.76. The committee held a financial-wellness lunch-and-learn on Jan. 23 with about 15 staff attending, and offered incentives tied to biometric participation: biometric screening in October had 56 participants and 67 flu shots; overall employee participation relevant to reporting was reported at 83%, above the 75% threshold that qualifies the county for the highest tier of wellness funding.
The committee plans two spring lunch-and-learn sessions (gardening in March and yoga/meditation in April) and will issue a $100 incentive e-gift card for health and wellness to employees. The committee also reviewed several wellness fund requests: it fully funded a standing desk converter request, partially funded a sheriff's weight-room equipment request ($200 under the committee policy), denied two walking-pad requests because departments had budget funds, and approved an electronic blood-pressure cuff request for the highway department after asking for clarifying details.
Ending: The wellness committee will hold its next meeting May 6 at 2 p.m. in the Health Department conference room and will continue to administer the wellness funds and employee programming.
