Board asked to approve Bucks County IU programs budget and a search agreement for technology director

District staff presented the Bucks County Intermediate Unit (BCIU) Programs and Services Division budget and an IU search agreement during the finance committee meeting on Feb. 13.

Anthony Rapp, director of administration, said the IU's member-district portion of the division budget totals $1,054,153 and Council Rock's share is $147,396. He said $89,682 of that is a direct contribution deducted from the district's basic education fund payments from the state and $57,714 is for purchase-of-service items the district pays directly. Rapp said the direct contribution is determined by "a state formula" and the portion for the IU is taken by direct debit when the state sends basic education payments.

On a related item, staff presented an agreement with the BCIU to run a search for the district's next director of technology. Anthony Rapp said the IU will perform the search and the district's only out-of-pocket expected cost is estimated at $3,000 and not to exceed $5,000; those costs are for advertising and related expenses. The board approved a similar IU agreement last month for a special services director search, Rapp said.

Superintendent Andy Sanko and board members discussed the interim work done by Dr. David Bolton, who has performed assessments and recommended a realignment of IT staff. Sanko said the district expects to reduce IT headcount by two positions as part of the reorganization and that the district will finalize a new title for the position currently described as director of IT.

Both the BCIU budget and the IU search agreement were presented for committee review and will be on the board's agenda for formal approval.
