On the water project the council approved a construction loan contract with the Washington State Department of Commerce Public Works Board for the City’s water-transmission-main project. The loan amount is $6,260,000, at a 1.71% interest rate for a 20-year term; staff said the first payment would begin June 1, 2026. The motion was moved and seconded on the record and passed unanimously.
The council also approved a use agreement with the City of Wenatchee to allow Leavenworth crews to use the Wenatchee Valley Regional decant facility for dewatering catch-basin and street-sweep spoils and similar wet waste. Staff said the city has previously used on‑site cemetery locations for dewatering and has incurred cleanup costs; using Wenatchee’s decant facility will provide a compliant disposal option. The motion was moved and seconded and passed unanimously.
