Leavenworth Chamber announces $150,000 'Funding It Forward' grants to local groups

A Chamber of Commerce representative told the Leavenworth City Council on Feb. 11 that the Chamber’s Funding It Forward program selected recipients for 2025 from roughly $150,000 set aside from prior Oktoberfest proceeds.
Troy (Leavenworth Chamber) said recipients include the Upper Valley Historic Society (for a Bavarian transformation exhibit and restoration of a glockenspiel), Icicle Valley Trout Unlimited (Blackbird Island pond restoration), Cascade Fisheries (a salmon-themed display/capital campaign), the Leavenworth Mountain Association (human-waste mitigation at trailheads), and event sponsorships for Autumn Leaf Festival, Leavenworth Bike Fest, Mountain Film Festival and others. "So that is the sum of all of the pieces that we are able to contribute and assist with this year," Troy said.
Troy said the Chamber’s funds come from previous Oktoberfest net proceeds rather than lodging tax and that the program lets the Chamber support activities that do not qualify for lodging-tax grants. He also described a Chamber investment at 645 Front Street: a planned visitor-center style space with an ADA ramp and natural-wood interior; staff expected a building permit imminently and a summer 2025 opening if permits proceed as scheduled.
Council and staff thanked the presenter and asked follow-up questions about banquet seating and timing; the presentation concluded with the council thanking the Chamber for the update.
