Hamilton County commissioners said Feb. 13 they will convene a multi-agency review after weekend events near a Lincoln Heights overpass in which extremist demonstrators assembled near residents, law enforcement and children on buses.
Commissioner Dumas described a tense scene where multiple groups — residents, sheriff deputies, Evendale police and those identified as neo-Nazis — were “up close” and children were present on buses. Recounting public remarks at a subsequent town meeting, she asked rhetorically, “How many shots went off? None.” The commissioners said that an after-action convening will bring together the sheriff, the county prosecutor, municipal police (including Evendale), local school officials and other partners to review what happened, whether procedures could be improved and what follow-up is needed.
County Administrator Jeff Aludo said staff are compiling the questions the commissioners’ offices submitted and will coordinate responses with the involved agencies. Commissioners asked that the resulting materials be made available countywide so municipalities, school boards and residents can see the findings and recommended changes.
Commissioners had already scheduled a focused meeting to review the weekend’s events and asked county administrators to coordinate the agenda and agency responses.
