Deschutes County approved a request to apply for a $1,000,000 congressionally directed spending allocation to purchase furniture, fixtures and equipment (FF&E) for a proposed 15‑bed subacute child psychiatric facility to be sited in Redmond.
County staff explained that the project is a partnership of St. Charles Health System (SCMC), BestCare, PacificSource, and Greater Oregon Behavioral Health, Inc. (GOBHI) on behalf of a regional provider. The City of Redmond limits facilities to 15 beds; the county will be the CDS applicant and the funds would be awarded to the operating provider to outfit the facility. Separately, Representative Levy is pursuing a $4,000,000 request for construction; partner organizations have committed to operations support and other funding.
Commissioners approved the county’s application request and authorized staff to submit the CDS proposal to the congressional offices identified by stakeholders. The board instructed staff to coordinate letters of support and to consult with partner agencies on the application packet.
