KCSD charter ad hoc reports progress, discusses Sugar Valley World Charter School cap and assessment requests

The Keystone Central School District board’s charter ad hoc committee reported on Feb. 13 that negotiations with Sugar Valley World Charter School have produced several specific requests but no final change to the parties’ contract.

The committee summarized three primary charter requests: remove a second assessment requirement in paragraph/section 6a, allow students in grade 12 who have completed an Act 158 graduation pathway to be excused from additional assessments and increase the charter’s enrollment cap from 475 to 495 students. Committee members said the charter provided information about its assessment practices and that district staff will meet with the charter to review testing and student-data processes.
