Students report better focus after districtwide rollout of phone pouches, board hears

Liberty County School System officials told the school board the implementation of Yonder phone pouches during instructional hours has been well received and appears to be affecting discipline and engagement.

Miss Tori Baker introduced a brief, unprompted video of students describing their experiences. "Students have adjusted to the new normal of being separated from their phones during the instructional day," Baker said, and the district said a year-to-date review of discipline data shows a "tremendous impact" from the pouches. Baker said the district is monitoring implementation and will share data with the board at the end of the year.

Students shown in the recorded segment expressed mixed reactions. One student said, "I do feel more focused in school." Another said the change was "kind of odd, but it's an expectation," while others said the pouches helped reduce distractions and encouraged more peer interaction.
