City approves Transportation Improvement Board contracts for Jones John Liner undercrossing and pavement overlay

Public Works Director Bill Bullock told council the Jones John Liner railroad undercrossing project received a TIB award of $22,149,055 with a required local match of $393,300. Bullock said the award represents a substantial federal/state funding portion for the undercrossing; the project was described as scheduled to move toward construction in 2026 following design contracted through David Evans and Associates.
Bullock also reported a $737,915 TIB grant for the city’s 2025 overlay program, including ADA ramps, with a local match of roughly $130,000. Councilmember discussion thanked staff for obtaining state and federal funds and noted the grants will help advance planned arterial and undercrossing work.
A motion to execute the TIB contracts passed on a voice vote. Staff will execute the contracts and proceed with design and procurement phases under the TIB agreements.
