Commission reappoints and names four members to Affordable Housing Advisory Committee

The Leon County Board of County Commissioners unanimously reappointed Lawrence Toby and appointed Michael Parker, Danielle Andrews and Christie Perkins to the county's Affordable Housing Advisory Committee.
Commissioner O'Keefe moved to reappoint Toby and to appoint Parker, Andrews and Perkins; Commissioner Cummings seconded the motion. Commissioners discussed the difficult environment for affordable housing funding and noted the importance of committee members with empathy and knowledge of local housing challenges. The motion passed unanimously with Commissioner Maddox out of chambers.
County staff said the terms for four committee members were set to expire Jan. 30 and that only Lawrence Toby was seeking reappointment; the board selected the three additional candidates from the eligible applicant pool included in meeting materials.
Commissioners signaled that the advisory body will play a role in forthcoming work on affordable housing and emphasized the importance of including residents with lived experience in future appointments.
