Commission continues Woodville storm-shelter feasibility study for three months

The Leon County Commission voted unanimously to continue the item on feasibility of a storm shelter in Woodville and asked county staff to consult with the Florida Division of Emergency Management and return in three months.
Vice Chair Commissioner Caban had pulled the item for discussion and moved to continue it for three months; a second was recorded and the motion passed without objection. Commissioner Caban said staff and her office had already reached out to state emergency management to seek technical input and recommended further coordination so the county can identify potential locations and next steps.
County staff did not propose any immediate funding actions during the meeting. The continuation preserves staff time to review state feedback and explore site identification and technical needs related to siting a community storm shelter in the southern part of Leon County, an area commissioners said currently lacks a designated public shelter.
The board recorded the continuation as unanimous and directed staff to return with findings at the scheduled follow-up.
