Byerly described “3 or 4 lights” as damaged and said some fixtures appeared partially broken and likely would not illuminate; he said the damage may have been caused by rocks or a BB gun and recommended cameras to deter future vandalism.
Board members and attendees reiterated support for cameras at park facilities, noting prior discussion of cameras at Chinook Park. The board did not approve camera purchases at this meeting; members requested staff follow-up.
Separately, members said the concrete approach to Chinook Park restrooms becomes icy and slippery during winter weather, creating a recurring fall hazard. The board requested more frequent salting and discussed temporary fixes such as applying grit or using burlap for traction until a longer-term surface solution is identified.
