Council approves liquor license transfers and new license for La Placita Kitchen and Bar

The Woonsocket City Council voted unanimously on Jan. 13 to approve two licensing items before the Board of Licensed Commissioners.
The council approved the transfer of a Class BB liquor license for Fuji Mountain Inc. (formerly Kodo Steakhouse) to be used by Super Hibachi Buffet at 401 Clinton Street (25 LC01), a motion that passed 7–0. The council then approved an application for a Class BB license for La Placita Kitchen and Bar LLC at 719 Front Street, Unit 111 (25 LC02), also 7–0.
Applicant Carlos Nolasco spoke during the public hearing for La Placita, said he is taking over Champ’s Diner on Front Street and that he owns two other Rhode Island restaurants. He described a menu offering a mix of American and Puerto Rican breakfasts and said the restaurant will cater to the local Puerto Rican community and broader clientele in the area. Councilwoman Gonzales invited the applicant to describe the menu during the hearing; councilors welcomed the applicant and wished the business well.
Both licensing motions were moved and seconded by councilors and approved unanimously.
