Appointment subcommittee approves Marion Kelly to Team Framingham steering committee through June 30, 2027

At its Jan. 16 appointment subcommittee meeting, the Framingham City Appointment Subcommittee voted 3-0 to appoint Marion Kelly of District 1 to the Team Framingham steering committee for a term through June 30, 2027.

The appointment matters to the city because the Team Framingham steering committee coordinates fundraising for local nonprofits and charities, a role the subcommittee described as active and community-facing. Kelly said she applied after being contacted about an open spot and cited local ties and prior volunteer experience.

Kelly introduced herself to the subcommittee, saying, "I'm the, secretary for the city council, but I'm also a resident. And, I grew up here and I have raised my family here." According to Kelly, Mike Bauer informed her that the steering committee had an opening and encouraged her to apply.

A subcommittee member moved to approve the nomination and another member seconded. The subcommittee recorded a unanimous vote to confirm Kelly: Councilor George King — yes; Chair Janel Bruno — yes; Councilor Leslie White Harvey — yes. The appointment term was stated as ending on June 30, 2027.

The subcommittee then considered two sets of minutes. A member moved to approve both sets; the motion passed with Councilor George King and Chair Janel Bruno voting yes and Councilor Leslie White Harvey abstaining. The minutes approval was recorded as two sets approved with one abstention on each.

The panel subsequently approved a motion to adjourn by voice vote, recorded as unanimous.

No other substantive business was conducted during the meeting.
