The Skyegan Planning Board voted to issue a flood hazard development permit to David M. James and Johnny Kimball for a new residence at 49 Alder Street, board members said during the January meeting.
Scott Mellon, who said he was representing project partners, stood for questions and described the lot as a recently divided parcel adjacent to an existing house and described site conditions as "a beautiful lot for someone" and "nice and flat." Brian, shoreline zoning department staff, told the board the shoreline zoning review "has also been issued for this project, so everything checks out."
After brief questions about proximity to town water and sewer, a board member moved to issue the flood hazard permit and another member seconded. The board then voted; the chair announced, "All those in favor, please raise your hand. Those opposed, you have your flood hazard permit," and the applicants were thanked.
No further conditions were read into the record at the meeting. The board’s action authorizes the applicants to proceed with the development permitted under the town’s flood‑hazard procedures, subject to any outstanding departmental or state requirements that the applicant must satisfy prior to construction.
