Votes at a glance: Cairo council approves events calendar, budget amendments, repairs and licenses

Cairo City Council on Jan. 30 approved a slate of routine and time-sensitive items, including a downtown special-events calendar, general fund budget reductions and amendments, an emergency contract for road repair in the industrial park, and a retail beer-and-wine package license for L and M Food Mart.

The council approved a Main Street events calendar covering community concerts, Juneteenth, a Christmas tree lighting, a farmers market and other downtown activities; voted to adopt budget amendments reducing this year’s general fund appropriations after returning the tax millage to the rollback rate; and authorized a $14,500 contract with Comco Land Services LLC (Copco Land Services LLC) to repair an emergency failure on D'Hester Drive in the industrial park, to be paid from T Sploss funds.
