Roswell wastewater team honored with statewide operations award

The Roswell City Council on Feb. 13 recognized Andrew Valdez and members of the city's wastewater operations team after the New Mexico Water and Wastewater Association selected the city’s wastewater treatment facility for the 2025 Max n Summerlot award.
Why it matters: The association awards the honor to a single facility statewide that demonstrates excellence in operations, maintenance, management, safety and professionalism.
Council members presented the recognition and praised the team for training and certification standards maintained across water, wastewater and solid-waste functions. City officials noted that Valdez recently took over leadership of the department and highlighted the staff’s dedication to public health and community service.
No formal vote was required for the recognition; it was presented during the meeting’s recognition segment. The council invited Valdez and team members to accept the award at the dais.
