City administration on Tuesday presented a resolution that would authorize a contract to purchase four mobile surveillance camera trailers with automated license-plate-reader (ALPR) capability.
Director Kears (presenting the item) identified the resolution as Resolution 25-100 and said the administration recommends awarding the contract to Millennium Communications Group in the total amount of $324,032.88, funded through the FY22 Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) grant. Council members asked whether the trailers would replace existing units or add to the current fleet. Administration staff said the purchase is intended to replace older trailers that have been in service for more than 10 years and that units can be deployed quickly to locations where fixed cameras are not present.
Council members also noted the trailers are integrated into the city’s existing camera system. No vote was taken at caucus; the matter was presented for consideration and will appear on the council agenda for formal action.
