Carlisle council appoints members to zoning, human relations and historic boards

Carlisle Borough Council on Feb. 5 approved four appointments and reappointments to local boards and commissions, voting by voice on each motion.

The council adopted a resolution appointing Allen Galbraith to a partial term on the Borough Zoning Hearing Board, effective immediately and expiring Dec. 31, 2026. The council then approved the appointment of Dan Hacker as an alternate on the Zoning Hearing Board for a full five-year term retroactive to Jan. 1, 2025, expiring Dec. 31, 2029. The council also appointed Wanda Hunter to a partial term as an alternate on the Human Relations Commission, effective immediately and expiring Feb. 28, 2026. Finally, the council reappointed Thomas Easterly to a second term on the Historical Architectural Review Board, retroactive to Jan. 1, 2025, and expiring Dec. 31, 2029.

Each appointment was moved and seconded from the dais and carried on a voice vote. The motions were introduced under the council's “ERCP” reports section of the workshop agenda.

The appointments place members and alternates on boards that review zoning appeals, human-relations matters and historic design/review decisions. The Zoning Hearing Board and the Historical Architectural Review Board can affect permitting and design outcomes for property owners and developers; the Human Relations Commission advises the borough on equity and related community concerns.

Councilors who moved or seconded the motions included Councilor Melton (mover) and Councilor Perry (second) on multiple items; the Deputy Mayor made an initial motion earlier in the meeting to approve minutes. All votes were recorded as voice votes with the mayor asking for “aye” or “nay.” No roll-call tallies by member name were recorded in the transcript.
