Pittsburgh City Council declared Jan. 28, 2025, to be Eden's Farm Day and commended the Pittsburgh-based nonprofit for providing safe, trauma-informed care and transitional housing to survivors of human trafficking.
The proclamation noted January is National Human Trafficking Prevention Month and described Eden’s Farm services, including supportive care, transitional housing and aftercare. The text read into the record said Eden’s Farm had opened its first home in the West End and provides education, outreach and community partnerships to prevent trafficking.
Councilwoman Theresa Kell Smith invited Eden’s Farm staff to the podium. Annalisa Gibbs, the organization’s founder and executive director, told the chamber Eden’s Farm offers two years of free housing to survivors, job training and pathways to economic stability; she urged residents to volunteer and attend trainings and provided the group’s contact details (www.edensfarm.org and (412) 903-7177) as resources for people seeking help or wishing to support the organization.
Council approved the proclamation by voice vote. The proclamation is an official recognition and does not itself authorize funding.
