The Woodstock mayor and council on Jan. 13 formally appointed Phil Bridal as the city attorney of record after a swearing-in ceremony during the regular meeting. Councilman Usher moved to approve the appointment and Councilman Johnson seconded; the motion carried 5-0 with one absence (Councilman Ake).
At the public swearing-in, Bridal affirmed an oath to “faithfully and impartially discharge the duties of city attorney for the City of Woodstock, Georgia, upholding the Constitution of the United States and the laws in the charter of the City of Woodstock, the laws of the State of Georgia and in accordance with the State Bar of Georgia.” Bridal told the council he was honored to serve.
The council subsequently moved to make the appointment official in open session. The vote to confirm the appointment recorded five yes votes, no opposition, and one absence. No additional conditions or contract terms were disclosed during the open meeting.
