The chair and several members expressed strong support for the bill; Representative Griffey urged adoption and the ranking member also voiced enthusiastic support, citing recent violent incidents and short sentences in other cases.
The committee held a voice vote and the chair announced that all members present voted in the affirmative; Representative Simmons was excused. The bill was reported out of committee with a due-pass recommendation.
Ending: The bill will proceed to the next legislative step after being reported from committee.
