District describes camera and access‑control upgrades; task orders on consent agenda

District staff told the Okaloosa County School Board that the district is upgrading camera systems at selected schools and planning broader access‑control improvements across campuses.
“ We are looking at trying to implement all of this modern technology across the board. We have our Bosch cameras in place right now, which are connected to the real time crime center,” said Mr. Vancek, a district staff member, describing the existing system and how the new cameras will operate alongside it.
The workshop included two Teleforce LLC task orders listed on the consent agenda: Teleforce task order number 213 for Choctaw and task order number 214 for Bruner. Dustin Keith, specialist, seat management, presented the task orders and said the upgrades are being funded primarily through grant money supplemented with district safety funding. Mr. Vancek told the board the old and new camera systems will run in parallel “to ensure that we have redundancy until we bring that Bosch system down.”
Board members asked whether the existing vendor connection to local law enforcement would remain; staff said the current connections will continue while the new systems are phased in. Staff also said access‑control improvements such as SALTO locks are under consideration and that rollout will be gradual and capitalized over time.
