The Committee on Innovation, Technology and Entertainment on Feb. 13 recommended reporting Resolution 25‑50, which urges the Department of Enterprise Services to pursue sponsorship and naming‑rights opportunities for the Neil S. Blaisdell Center.
Dita Hollyfield, Director designate for Enterprise Services, told the committee DES supports the intent of the resolution and is prepared to explore sponsorships, events advertising and naming rights to generate revenue and improve the Blaisdell campus. Hollyfield said the department understands that "ROH Chapter 22 does not currently allow for the sponsorship of the naming rights in this criteria," but she expressed readiness to work through legal and policy changes.
Several council members encouraged deliberate planning and cautioned that any sponsorship program should include clear expectations for return on investment. Council Member Kia Aina said the committee should be intentional about the structure of any deal and the expected returns.
After discussion the chair recommended reporting Resolution 25‑50 out for adoption; the committee recorded no objections and ordered the recommendation.
