Clark L. K. Bright introduced himself as bandmaster and said he has served 14 years and was beginning his 15th year. He emphasized the band’s role in preserving Hawaiian musical traditions and supporting community events.
Antoinette Lee, president of Friends of the Royal Hawaiian Band, testified in support and described the organization as an international membership group of roughly 200 members dedicated to preserving the band’s history and traditions. Lee urged the committee to reappoint Bright, saying local students look forward to performances and the band’s presence encourages future participation.
Council Member Okimoto and others praised the band’s community presence at parades and events and noted the band employs local constituents. After discussion the chair recommended reporting Resolution 25‑21 out for adoption; the committee recorded no objections and ordered the recommendation.
