The Michigan House of Representatives adjourned after the clerk announced a lack of quorum and set reconvening for Tuesday, Feb. 18, at 1:30 p.m.
"Mister Speaker, a quorum of the house is not present," the clerk said, and later announced that, “There being the lack of a quorum, the house will stand adjourn until Tuesday, February 18 at 01:30PM.”
Because a quorum was not present, the House could not conduct formal votes or take other final actions. Earlier in the brief session the clerk read several notices and reproduced bills for electronic availability, but no legislative actions requiring a vote were completed before the adjournment.
The clerk also instructed members to check in at their desks for attendance and closed the board and tally display prior to announcing the adjournment.
