At the Feb. 13 arraignment calendar, the prosecutor told the court the state would allow Nikira Danielle Lewis to complete 60 hours of community service and provide verifiable proof to the court; if she does so by March 6, 2025, the state will process her case as agreed and she will return to court March 11 at 10 a.m. to show documentation.
Prosecutor: The state explicitly required that the community service be performed with a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (not a school or church) and that the hours be verifiable. The deadline for completing the 60 hours is March 6; Lewis will appear March 11 at 10 a.m. to present proof.
Judge Hayward told defense counsel to provide whatever verification they could and allowed a short breakout conference earlier in the hearing for counsel to discuss the offer. The judge emphasized the court would verify the hours before granting the benefit of nonprosecution.
Ending: Lewis’s case was reset for March 11, 2025 at 10 a.m. to present proof of the 60 community-service hours; failure to provide acceptable verification will leave the case returned to the regular process.
