Kamari Eric Johnson appeared Feb. 13, 2025, before Judge Tammy Long Hayward and entered no-contest (nolo contendre) pleas to counts in two separate cases, the judge announced.
The judge accepted Johnson’s nolo pleas for case 2022CR00395 (loitering/prowling) and case 2023CR02879 (loitering/prowling). As to 2022CR00395, the court accepted the plea and ordered a $100 fine that will be suspended provided Johnson does not return to the BP on Riverdale Road. On case 2023CR02879, the court accepted the nolo plea and imposed a sentence of 12 months with 1 day to serve (community time served) with the balance suspended, conditioned on Johnson staying away from the Sunoco gas station at 5995 Riverdale Road.
State’s factual basis and recommendation
The prosecutor summarized the facts supporting each case on the record. For the 2021 incident (case ending 00395), the prosecutor said Officer A. Kendrick observed Johnson and another male standing at 5780 Riverdale Road (BP) for longer than 10 minutes without purchasing goods. For the 2023 incident (case ending 02879), the prosecutor said an officer observed Johnson at 5995 Riverdale Road (Sunoco); Johnson told the officer he was waiting for an Uber but could not show an Uber order when asked. The state recommended a suspended $100 fine for one matter and a 12-month sentence with one day to serve (community time served) for the other.
Judge Hayward accepted the negotiated pleas and the agreed conditions. During the hearing the judge warned Johnson about returning to the named gas stations: “Just be mindful those 2 places, because they’ve brought you here to this point.”
Ending: The court released Johnson after accepting the pleas and instructing him that returning to the specified gas stations could result in further arrest or revocation of suspension.
