Council approves minutes and consent agenda including union contracts, sewer contract and land-use items

The Peoria City Council unanimously approved the minutes of the Joint City Council and Town Board meeting held Jan. 14, 2025, and approved the consent agenda that included a bundle of labor agreements, intergovernmental contracts and land-use items.

Key items approved on the consent agenda included:

- Collective bargaining agreements: Council authorized the city manager to execute multi-union agreements covering the period Dec. 1, 2024, through Nov. 30, 2028, with Teamsters Local 627, Laborers Local 1165, Carpenters Local 237 and Painters Local 157 (agenda item 25-12). Council also authorized a collective bargaining agreement with International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 51 covering the same period (25-13). These were included in the consent package and approved as part of the motion.

- Intergovernmental agreements and contracts: The council approved an intergovernmental agreement with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (25-14; updated handout noted) and an intergovernmental agreement with Greater Peoria Sanitary District for cleaning and inspection of selected city sewer segments. The sewer contract low bid was $161,830 with a $16,183 contingency for a total authorization of $178,013 (25-15).

- Zoning, plats and land-use items: The council concurred with Planning and Zoning Commission recommendations on multiple items, including a preliminary plat for the Kona Breeze subdivision with waivers (25-16), rezoning and official development plan amendments related to St. Francis Medical Center (25-20 and related parcels), and an ordinance vacating a portion of an alley in Voorhis Fields Edition (25-19).
