ANNAPOLIS — The Senate Finance Committee heard multiple witnesses in favor of Senate Bill 406, which would require Medicaid and commercial insurers to cover medically necessary custom orthoses intended specifically for participation in physical activities such as running, swimming and sports.
Senator Pamela Bridal, the bill sponsor, told the panel the text would extend coverage language that legislators adopted last year for prosthetics to orthoses. "Together we can ensure that Marylanders have access to medically necessary custom orthosis for physical activity," Bridal said.
