Saint Charles West routs Warrenton 64-42 to keep GAC North lead

Saint Charles West opened strong and built a sizeable first-quarter lead, carrying an 18-4 advantage after one period. The West offense hit from distance early; Reagan Govero made five 3-pointers in the first half and finished with 16 points. Alex Nicastro, a 6-foot-1 junior guard, provided interior scoring and rebounding; Miley Jackson added multiple steals and finished with eight points while controlling loose-ball opportunities.
Warrenton’s Mikaela Woodhouse and Naysha Love tried to spark a comeback, and Sofia Behnke and Savannah Miller provided bench scoring, but turnovers and difficulty getting second-chance points limited Warrenton’s rally. Announcers reported Warrenton senior guard Aaron Placing left the game in the third quarter with an apparent injury; the broadcast said Placing had nine points at the time she exited.
Saint Charles West’s defensive rotation and success on the offensive glass helped pull the margin out to a comfortable lead in the second half. West converted multiple possessions into threes and free-throw opportunities down the stretch to seal the victory.
Looking ahead, announcers said Saint Charles West’s next game is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 14, against Saint Charles High School; Warrenton’s next game is listed as tomorrow at Fort Zumwalt East, weather permitting.
