Florence City planning staff presented and the Planning Commission approved a sketch‑plan concept to extend Weatherstone Lane as a right‑of‑way connection between Cedar Crest phases 1–4 within the city and Cedar Crest 2 in the county.
Staff said the same developer owns both properties; the city side includes about 91 lots in phases 1–4, while the county’s Cedar Crest 2 is about 82 lots. “So Cedar Crest phases 1 through 4 subdivision are in the city, as shown in blue. And directly to the east is Cedar Crest 2, a different subdivision,” staff said in the presentation.
The proposed plat would dedicate a portion of a recorded parcel to public right‑of‑way so Weatherstone Lane can be extended. Staff told commissioners that no new water, sewer or stormwater utilities are currently planned with the right‑of‑way extension; detailed utility and road plans will be submitted at development‑plan stage.
Commissioners moved and seconded a motion to approve the sketch plan as submitted; the chair called for a voice vote and the ayes carried. Staff said final development plans and any required utility or stormwater work will return for city review.
