The Finance Committee received an overview of the Minuteman Regional Vocational Technical School budget and Needham’s assessment.
Committee member Barry said Needham’s enrollment at Minuteman has grown since the new building opened and that the district’s reorganization reduced the member towns from 16 to nine. He described the new school and cooperative education opportunities for Needham students as successful and said the town’s pro rata share is rising as Needham sends more students.
Barry told the committee the budget number in the packet is an estimate; the district provides a final assessment in the spring. He also said the district is evaluating a long‑term capital plan and that committee staff did not know whether an additional assessment for capital would be included in the packet estimate. Committee members noted the district’s assessment uses a four‑year rolling average of enrollment to calculate Needham’s share.
