A vehicle drove through a playground fence at the corner of School Street and Lincoln Street on Dec. 20, damaging a newly installed play structure and prompting a request for town action, public commenters told the Transportation Safety Committee on Feb. 12.
Stephanie Bode, owner of Chobin Bode Schools, told the committee that the driver “ran the stop sign over, and I’m still unclear of exactly what happened,” and that the vehicle did not appear to slow before striking the fence and playground equipment. Bode said she received a redacted police report and that no one was injured; the school removed the damaged equipment and will not reinstall it until spring.
