District completes annual review of Title I parent and family engagement policy

Staff and building principals updated school-level procedures to remove fixed dates (for example, specific calendar dates for open houses) and to replace them with general language such as “an open house in the fall,” so principals can set dates without inadvertently creating policy violations if scheduling changes are necessary. The intent, administrators said, is to maintain compliance with Title I requirements while allowing individual schools flexibility to meet their families’ needs.
The district will include the annual review of Policy 09.18 in the informational section of the March board meeting agenda; no board action was required because the district-level policy did not change.
