Resident asks Pleasanton council for help resolving $57,950 heritage-tree fine

Mary Jane Maderas told the Pleasanton City Council Feb. 4 that she remains without a resolution to a tree fine first assessed under prior rules and now subject to a new ordinance. Maderas said the fine concerned eucalyptus trees and that she previously had a stay that left a remaining balance of about $14,000 pending the new ordinance.
"This is my third time being in front of the council about my lovely heritage tree fine of $57,950," Maderas said, asking the council for assistance and noting she had expected follow-up from the city manager and city attorney. Staff responded that Matt Gruber had contacted her and that there was an email from him earlier in the day; staff offered to provide further assistance and contact information.
No formal council action was taken during the public-comment period; staff indicated they would follow up.
