The Committee on Corrections and Juvenile Justice passed House Bill 2,221, a bill that moves funds derived from DUI statute collections — Alcohol and Drug Abuse Treatment Fund receipts — from the Department of Corrections’ fund to the Department for Aging and Disability Services’ fund.
Jason, the committee reviser, described the measure as transferring funds “from the Department of Corrections Alcohol and Drug Abuse Treatment Fund to the Department for Aging and Disability Services Alcohol and Drug Abuse Treatment Fund. These are funds that come in through the DUI statute.” A committee member offered a technical amendment to correct wording and a statutory reference; that amendment was seconded and passed.
Representative Ressman moved the bill as amended and Representative Schlingensiepen seconded. Committee members characterized the bill as noncontroversial after the technical fix; the committee voted to pass HB 2,221 as amended and recorded several aye votes.
The bill will be forwarded from committee; committee minutes show the motion carried and the bill was passed as amended.
