Committee introduces House resolution recognizing Paige Nelson for agricultural advocacy

The House Agriculture Affairs Committee voted to introduce RS 32,334, a House resolution recognizing Paige Nelson of Rigby for her work representing Idaho agriculture at the state and national level, and recommended the resolution be placed on the House second-reading calendar.

Representative Gerald Raymond, sponsor of the draft resolution, said Paige Nelson comes from a multi-generational ranching family, contributes freelance journalism focused on the beef industry and agriculture, operates an internet beef sales business and represents Idaho agriculture nationally. “She didn’t just get in the top 20, didn’t just get in the top 10, she’s in the top 3 and gave an outstanding presentation,” Raymond said of her national appearance.

Representative McCann moved to introduce RS 32,334. Representative Dygert offered a substitute motion to send the resolution directly to the second-reading calendar; the committee approved the substitute motion by voice vote. Representative Ehlers asked whether the measure would be a proclamation or a resolution; Raymond said the chief clerk advised that a house resolution was most appropriate and that the measure would stay in the House rather than going to the Senate.

Raymond requested the committee keep the recognition confidential until the honoree was present in the gallery for the House floor session on Wednesday. The committee’s action introduces the resolution and places it on the legislative second-reading calendar per the sponsor’s request.
