West Virginia Senate adopts resolution honoring Francis Jones for Mineral County public service

The West Virginia Senate on Feb. 12, 2025, adopted Senate Resolution 4 recognizing Francis Jones for her public service in Mineral County during the chamber's Mineral County Day observance.

The resolution, which was taken up by unanimous consent after the committee reference was dispensed with, honors Jones for longstanding involvement in local charities, shelters and rehabilitation efforts, and for work with youth programs in Keyser.

Senator from Taylor, who requested unanimous consent to take up the resolution for immediate consideration, described Jones as "certainly just a pillar of the community" and said she "lived in Keyser with her family and 6 children" and was "involved in the teen challenges, some of the various shelters, some of the even getting involved in the number of the rehab facilities." The senator said Jones "was basically involved, it seems like everything in the county" and urged support for the resolution.

There was no recorded roll-call vote; the presiding officer announced, "The ayes appear to have it. The ayes do have it. I declare the resolution adopted." The resolution will be entered into the Senate journal and carried as a formal recognition for Mineral County Day.

The action was procedural and ceremonial; no policy change or funding was associated with the resolution.
