Council rejects Gay Street closure bids; staff to rebid project

Staff clarified that part of the project is funded through American Rescue Plan Act dollars and that the borough must spend those dollars before the end of 2026. Staff and council discussed scheduling and the need to rebid promptly so work can proceed within the grant timeline.
Next steps: Public Works will prepare a rebid and return with a proposed procurement schedule and updated timeline. The rebid will include the business district feedback on preferred construction timing (businesses requested work take place in summer rather than October or November).
