Staff explained the system is important for daily operations (the city averages about 320 locates a month) and for new infrastructure projects; the agreement requires developers to submit shapefiles for new work and PEC would assist with importing and correcting small mismatches between as-builts and actual field locations. No lump-sum price was specified in the agreement; staff said the work is on an as-needed basis and costs will be allocated equally from the water, sewer and stormwater utility funds.
Action: Councilmember Jim Schrader moved to approve and authorize the mayor to execute the agreement with PEC, to be equally paid from water, sewer and stormwater utility funds. Councilmember Troy Hill seconded. Motion passed 5-0.
Ending: PEC will proceed with mapping updates and training; staff noted improved valve mapping and as-built accuracy will assist future main break responses and locates.
