Senator Schultz read a statement announcing Truckers Day on the Hill, noting the Motor Truck Association has parked a show trailer near the Capitol and is offering a driving simulator and a $500 charity prize for top legislators.
“Last year over 15,000 people walked into the trailer and with almost 9,000 driving the simulator,” Senator Schultz said as he read an announcement on behalf of Senator Dickey. He said a shuttle would run “about 10:00 to 10:30” from the Capitol steps to the trailer, the simulator would be open until 11 a.m., and a white Tahoe would transport legislators beginning at 8:30 a.m.
Schultz said the show trailer includes a driving simulator that travels across the state to give attendees “an up close and personal experience of the industry.” He said the Motor Truck Association would make a $500 contribution to the favorite charity of the state senator and the state representative with the highest overall simulator score.
The remarks were delivered as an announcement and did not prompt a legislative question or vote during this session. The transcript does not specify whether any lawmakers accepted the challenge or which charities might be designated if the prize is awarded.
