Commissioner Danette Henry, Zone 5, used a recorded "Meet Your Commissioner" segment to describe her long-term hopes for Daytona Beach, saying she sees continued growth and hopes the city remains a place where families want to live and raise children.
Henry said, "Growth. I hope that we will continue to be 1 of the fastest growing cities in the state of Florida. I hope that people will continue to see us as a place where they will want to live and raise their families. I hope that my children will stay here and serve this community the way I've serve the community." She added, "When I'm long gone, I hope that people will come and sit in my seat and love Zone 5 the way that I have loved Zone 5 and see the potential."
The segment aired as part of a series the city is running to introduce elected officials. A host closed the segment by thanking Henry for her service and noting that other commissioners and the mayor will also appear in the series.
Henry framed her remarks around a multi‑decade view of the city and asked residents to be patient with the pace of change, saying that leaders must "chip away and work towards that vision." She also offered a brief personal note when she said, "I am really hoping for God's best for Daytona Beach."
The remarks were promotional and reflective in nature; no legislation, motions or formal city actions were proposed or taken during the recorded segment. The city-provided series aims to give residents a chance to hear commissioners' priorities and perspectives, rather than to conduct official board business.
