Weld County commissioners approve grants, contracts and appointments in Jan. 29 meeting

The Weld County Board of Commissioners on Jan. 29 approved a slate of contracts, grant acceptances and personnel actions, including acceptance of a federal jail reimbursement award, approval of the annual equitable-sharing report, appointment of a county controller and multiple foster-care provider contracts.

Sonia (listed in the record as Sonia Cobra / Sonia Kulgarath), finance manager with the Weld County Sheriff’s Office, presented Contract ID 9042, a 2024 State Criminal Alien Assistance Program (SCAAP) award of $177,584 that the sheriff’s office will use to offset medical and services costs at the jail. The board approved accepting the award and authorized the assistant controller to submit acceptance electronically.

Sonia also presented Contract ID 9043, the annual equitable-sharing agreement and certification reflecting 2024 receipts and expenditures for the sheriff’s equitable-sharing fund. The board approved the report and authorized electronic submission.
